I wasn't concerned about the rain getting in as much as the bugs this summer. I also didn't think it would be any worse than the stock as you can see in the pics all of the mud water splashed up in the inner fender. I still haven't fitted the old window screen in the grill...I am kicking around the idea of pantyhose or an actual outerwares prefilter for a sprint car K&N stack would fit well but cost money... I am cheap
. Either one would definately cut the moisture down.
I did buy another 45 elbow and rubber sleeve to help give it more of a direct shot, but it isn't in yet.
The car inside isn't "louder" but it is different. Now the engine is whisper quiet, but you can sometimes hear the intake and now the exhaust could be little louder, but it is a different pitch...overall I would say it is the same or quieter in dB but more pleasurable to the driver
outside the car you can definately hear it sucking
even at idle.
I have driven it 150 miles or so now as I am a salesman and drive alot and would say this about the mod SO FAR
PROS: Sounds better inside the car, Butt Dyno says that the mid to upper RPM pull is noticably better- if it were a gas car it is almost like adding a higher lift cam
CONS: Took the better part of an afternoon, scary cutting the crap out of your intake box and not knowing what will happen for sure, and not any benefit on the low RPM maybe a tick worse or just the mid to upper is so much better it seems that way.
I would DEFINATELY recommend doing this
