Just like it says. Looking at possibly picking up a Fox Wagon from across the border while I'm up here, and I'd love to drop a diesel in it for the trip home.
1.5, 1.6, 1.6TD, hell even 1.9/TD, doesn't matter to me, just so long as it either runs, is close to running, and isn't going to cost me more than the wagon it'd be going into.
Minnesota, Wisconsin, Indiana, Illinois, Ontario (I'm nearish to Thunder Bay right now, car's over in Kitchener), I could probably even delve into the Dakotas and as far as Iowa if I had to...
Whatcha guys got.

Nah, that was just setting the range that I'd be able to work with to come pick something up.

No, really I'm fairly stuck on this base, so I'm trying to get a feel for things now... then I can get stuff done without a hitch. When I move, I can move quickly to snag everything I aim for.
Thanks for the lead on Marquis, I'm checking it out now.

In western NY
Jetta: '91 EcoD, Golf '85 naD, 2 engines: 1.5, 1.6 unknown condition
Have Truck... can haul
Could even justify a business trip to SC

I'm guessing the EcoD and the '85 Golf are motors with cars still attached?
Where in Western NY are you, out of curiousity?

Would "long block" in this case happen to include the injection pump?
You're easily the closest, I think...

no sorry no I.P. did not get one with that motor .all it is is block, crank, pistons, head valve cover. all is still bolted together! sounds like it's not what you need you really need a complete engine that has everything for a swap into that fox? if i get one i'll post it! thanks Duane

I sourced an IP pretty easily in this area, but I'm a bit hesitant to grab an engine that needs retiming, since my dial gauge and tools are in SC still. I have wrenches and such at the shop on base, but I'd need that gauge.
That'd be awesome if you found a complete engine; I don't need the accessories, I'll just transfer over the alternator and such from the Fox if I do it.

Ihave a dial gage! if you brought everything you need to transfer over to the 1.5 we can time it here and send you on your way with a timed engine block i would proably need to pull out an old tranny to bolt to it to get the crank lined up! but i got all the tools here to do it! it can be done! does that work for you?
thanks Duane

Hey, that'd be a pretty cool deal actually. Then it'd just be a matter of swapping it over once I got back to base and the shop setup here.
Well, I go talk to Customs tomorrow about the Fox and what all I'd have to do to import it. I think mentioning that it's getting a US-spec engine (I just won't say what kind of engine, since diesel wasn't an option anywhere...) might help; we'll see what they say.
Won't be hard at all to register in SC, at any rate; VIN number and bill of sale, they check the VIN, and boom, title and go.

Right-o. Would it help, you think, to tell them that it's basically being imported for parts, but the easiest way to get it across the border is to drive it?
