Ive got a chance to get a complete mk3 golf with a 1Z Tdi lump very cheap. The car is knackered and has been stood for 18 mths but the engine was a good runner. Im thinking of stripping the car for parts. Other than the intercooler, are there any other usefull parts on the 1Z for my AAZ?
Also, does anyone need any parts?
The turbo, rig it up for cable operated vanes like some others have done. Or was the 1Z one of the TDIs with the K03 instead of the VNT15?
Or you could do a complete TDI-m swap into your car, like some people are doing.
Swap the engine and transmission on your car
1Z have Garrett wastegated GT15 turbo.

The idea of a full engine swap is good but i cant afford to have my car off the road, and to be honest theres nothing wrong with the old AAZ lump, despite 162k miles! Im thinking about stripping the car to sell on parts, but keep the engine and ancillaries for possible use in the future, maybe a tdi-m. The intercooler will be swapped on to my AAZ.
would you sell the metal fuel lines from the pump to the injectors and the/or the pump? I am trying to hook up a 1Z motor I have in a m-tdi swap but it has no lines and all I realy need from the pump is the pump head and fitings for the fuel lines to the injector
use the inlet manifold and turn the inlet mainford around. to do this you would have to delete the egr valve by using blaikng plates. this will make it easier to attachthe intercooler pipes. i learnt the hard way....

Maybe, it depends on weather I get a good price for the complete engine. Im going to try and start the car this weekend, if it goes and the engine seems OK Ill have it.
Not got the car, My mate was offered a good price for the engine, but he did give me the Intercooler and pipe work!
