TD oil supply line

My Rabbit with AHU is on the road, and I'm putting together the parts to "upgrade" the turbo to a K24, might even try to make my own K24/26 hybrid.
I had always heard that there is supposed to be a restrictor in the oil supply line, to avoid flooding the turbo with oil and to help maintain oil pressure to the engine; but the K24 and its original supply line complete with fittings at both ends, is totally wide open.
Am I missing something, or some part?

A few people have posted with similar questions, but with no substantive replies.
The i.d. of the fittings on the oil filter mount and the turbo center section is the narrow point of the supply plumbing, at 6mm, or .240".
By contrast, ATP Turbo sells and recommends restrictor fittings for their ballbearing turbos of .035". and restrictor fittings for their T3 journal bearing turbos of .060".
Any suggestions?

I had heard that the needed restriction was in the fitting or the turbo. The size probably depends on the specific turbo. A water cooled turbo will need less oil than one that isn't because then the oil flow needs to cool it. So you will need more oil than just what the bearings require.

Doing a little necroposting, but I'll be fabricating a supply line for a K03 to put on my 1.5TD and I'm trolling for some suggestions.
In essence I plan on bending up some solid hydraulic tube and using flare fittings on each end. I can get it all fairly cheaply from the local hydraulic shop, so what size line should I go for? 1/4" line? Inner/outer diameter?

The line ID on my AAZ is way bigger than the restrictor in my VNT, FYI.

The drain line is huge compared to the pressure supply line. With that in mind, I suspect that the restriction is built into my T-3, as the turbo is not meant to be pressurized, but simply sprayed with oil. It then drains freely away.
Does that sound about right?
