I have a Mercedes 300D turbodiesel and would like to make a new exhaust manifold for it. Reason is I would like to use one of those turbos with divided turbine inlets. But, since I have 5 cylinders to play with I do not know which cylinders to group together. Anyone?
might not be such a good idea then... but if you absolutely must, put the 3 cyls on the exhaust portion of the turbo, not that it will make much difference...
That is what I was thinking. It feels like I will group the different exhaust runners into one point (or, until they are parallel) and then let the exhaust choose where it wants to go. Or, just pick up a turbine housing that does not have the divided thingie.
Divided inlets do not work on engines with an odd number of cylinders.
it could possibly work... but why not get a pulsed manifold :twisted:
