• I understand the the 1.6 pulley has two tapers on each edge to help keep the belt in alignment.

• The later 1.6 int shaft pully had no edges on it.I believe they were removed as the pully's lip would cut into the timing belt.I'm almost 100 % sure that the 1.9 and the later 1.6 ones are the same.I would ditch the older model pully or machine the lips off.I have seen some of the older style 1.6 pullys wreck timing belts.

• I think I know where this is headed... Guide edges on flat or toothed pulleys are not the answer to tracking problems. In my opinion it is far better to find the tracking problem than to force the belt to track with more guides...

• "where this is headed" is not as a solution to the problem, but rather an enhancement should I need to change the pulley anyway.

• Are the gasser pulleys the same also? I have a old lipped style pulley thats missing some material that I would like to replace.
