been told a turbo from a 1.6td would be a better turbo to replace my 1.9td one with, they said it is a bigger turbo with it being fitted to the smaller engine, is this so?
if not. any ideas to make my standard 1.9td a little bit more responsive?
any ideas greatly appriciated :?

think what he was getting at was the turbo's bigger to make up for the fact its a smaller 1.6 engine. Correct me if im wrong.

I'm putting a 1.6 turbo (Garrett T-3) on my new 1.9 AAZ to replace the stock KKK turbo. It will give more boost/power, though there will be more lag with the larger turbo.
The small turbo on the 1.9 seems to be an emission cleanup item while the turbo on the 1.6 was meant for power only.

well all you need is some proper fueling mods to get the turbo to spool up quicker... and with a nice bigger exhaust that shouldn't be a problem

i have a K24 on a 1.6 and it doesn't seem to take much to start boosting... with the fuel turned down to moderate levels it still doesn't take much at all to get it going... so a T3 which spools better on a bigger 1.9 engine will be sweeeet!!!

I have also added a Giles pump and a 2.5" Passenger Performance downpipe, so I am expecting better spooling

I swapped garrett t2 for k24 on 1.6td and I'm happy. It doesn't seem to be laggy, but I want to change it.... for something bigger

Ive gone with a T3 garrett as suggested by people off here and ITS AMAZING i took a few diesel geezers for a spin and the one s... his pants,he wanted to look under the bonnet he said no way 1.9 AAZ  ive not touched the fuel screw, just the aneroid pin and used a 2.5" exhaust and set the pump to 1.0mm and WOW no intercooler either, and 11 psi boost
Anyone wants a go come and i will take you for a spin

Funny.
When my K03 bit the dust, I went with a T3. The difference in lag is really noticeable... especially around town.
The only time I'm really happy with the T3 is on the highway.

Get a bigger downpipe and exhaust and turn up the fuel screw a tad. You won't believe the difference.

when i bought it, the car was only running at 0.2 bar and i took it to the Gavin at the derv doctor who said he upped it to 1.2 bar. recent visit to stealth racing showed it was running at 0.8 bar so i need to take it down to have it adjusted. thinking of attaching an intercooler before i visit Gavin again, cost saving measure.
