This is a picture of a 1.5l head that I recently purchased. Notice that huge hole in the pre combustion chamber? What could have caused that?

Thank you Andrew, I kind of figured that is what caused it but thought it would be benificial to post it for everyone to see.
Could that damage occur if you simply ran a mile with coolant level low? So the alloy was just able to crumble like a Krell door? when faced with monsters of the ID? :mrgreen:

You're probably right (as usual :roll: ) Mind you neither picture shows #1 chamber and valves...maybe that's melted off which is why his hand is at #2 :mrgreen:
Seriously though I wonder what the chamber inserts look like? The one must have melted right out. Back to the Krell issue How come I only hole an alumin
um sacepan with a gas cooker flame when it boils dry; yet the flames are hotter than diesel aren't they? :?
i dunno... diesel can have some serious BTU's... just takes a little bit on a campfire to take the chill out :lol:
Ever hear of those cutters that use liquid jets at high pressure? Hot metal is softer, and could probably easily be eroded by high pressure Diesel jet.
The rest of the head looked perfectly normal. The chambers all seemed fine, the valves looked fine as did the cups. You guys can probably notice alot of carnage on the head... I used a hammer to take it apart lol.
