My thottle damper (part 11) squelches if it opperate the throttle by hand, Is is needed and should I replace it?

I have not had an opportunity to play with a governor linkage like that with a damper, but if I understand correctly, it delays movement of the throttle input lever to the governor inside the pump relative to the throttle lever you control with your foot. In that case, for a performance application, you might want to try running without it. I think you might then find that you have more power (probably with a bit more smoke too) when you suddenly mash down on the throttle, and you might find that the turbo also spools up quicker. :twisted: Good luck!

yes you're right about the damper it's designed to make sure u don't
have any black smoke on sudden acceleration.
I have noticed on almost all of the pumps that i rebuild in my shop
that the damper is not dampning any more. it is a vw part and i'm
pretty sure it's not cheap.
i would also just leave it alon or remove it totally.

Yeah I dont think mine is damping any more it sounds like a knackered boot strut.
I would have thought they'd be available from Bosch? as they make the pumps anyway.
