Just wanted to let everyone know of a group buy that is being hosted on TDIclub. The gauge in question is manufactured by Westach and has dual sweeping gauges for boost and egt. The boost goes to 30psi and the egt goes to 2000F. We need one more buyer to complete the order, but more are definately welcome.

Hi, I might be interested--could you repost the link to the thread? It didn't work and I couldn't find it over at TDIclub. Thanks

I just signed up for that group buy. It's not the prettiest looking gauge, but it's compact and functional. I have a MKV and gauges cannot be cheaply installed around the radio as the frame is trapezoid-shaped rather than rectangular. The left vent gauge is also expensive (no one is selling the plastic vent gauge holder separately from $200 USD boost gauges that have vacuum and no matching EGT gauge). A couple companies are making a 3-gauge pod that goes on top of the dashboard, which is neat, but I just need 2 gauges and I like to keep it discreet. So this westach + 1 steering column pod looks good.
30 PSI is far too low for my GT22v turbo plans, 35 to 40 PSI would have been ideal just to watch for boost spikes, but the GT22v probably won't be 'til 1 or 2 years later anyway.
The price for this Westach gauge including shipping and K-type thermocouple (1/8" NPT) may be 262.64 USD, which is not too bad. If I change my mind I can always sell it at post-GB price.

Thanks buddy for filling in the last spot on the GB. I know where your coming from on the new turbo. I have just bought the same turbo as your planning, and am also sourcing a PD150 longblock. Which I'll be building a set of rods for. I'm wanting to hit 500ft-lbs at the wheels so 40psi is probably going to be what I'm looking at. We'll see how long it holds up.

Your project sounds interesting - let me know if you need a custom chip

We did a 330hp PD100 a while ago (in Poland though) and we also did a compound turbo TDI.
Later this month or early next month we'll have downloaders that customers can buy to flash their cars at home in 5 minutes. We email personalized tunes to customers w/ the downloaders, so there's no car down-time.

Malone, will your downloader work on my 05 NA TDI? I'll be using my stock ecm to control everything. We'll be switching the PD100 long block for the 150. I'll also be converting the GT22Vs vnt actuator over to the electronic PD100 actuator.
In other words, yes a custom chip will be needed. I'll be researching the best tuner for my setup as the build progresses.

BTW for that much torque it'll be important to have even airflow across 4 cylinders (the OEM PD130/150 intake isn't that much better), so look up Passenger Performance. They're building custom intake manifolds and custom exhaust manifolds, both flow-tested. Passenger could also possibly get a PD cam reground for another 10HP with a chip remap, but it probably won't do much for your 500wtq goal. Are you gonna run FWD slicks on the street to keep the traction down??
PP's manifolds, cam, porting, FMIC, GT22v, and 3" exhaust will flow real nice for my PD100 up to 5,000 RPM. I have a DSG auto, which has a torque limit, so a flat torque curve up to redline is what I'm after. Probably 250HP.

Although it hasn't been tested yet, the downloader should work on a NA-spec 2005. Check back in about a month for updates.

Exactly, two seperate pods etc, for some they want a clean install and don't mind spending the extra.
Don't look at my car, westach egt gauge velcroed to the column and Jacuzzi pool filter gauge in the ashtray

We may be needing another 12th buyer. If anyone wants one let me know.
