hmmmm with this, what else would i need to convert an old 1.6TD pump to mech TDI?
i thought at least a 20mm shaft, and a tdi camplate (the offset on the rear side is not the same as older camplates)

hmm i was just wondering about buying the pieces to make my own m-TDI pump... as this would be a great start

where can I find a 20mm shaft? will that 'fit' in a 1.6TD pump??? does the pump need to be machined to accept the larger shaft???

Different pump. Pumps off of 4bt's have a 20mm shaft. The vw's have a 17mm. I have heard of people running 17mm shaft with a 12mm pump head with no problems. I think the only problem would be if you were really running it all out you might snap the shaft.
i'm not a vw expert, but i thought TDI's have 20mm shafts, i believe late TD's also. TDI's have an other profile camplate, i dont know you can become the same pressure rate with a TD camplate in a TDI.
On the rear side of the camplate you have the 2 pins, i think the 20mm pumps got a other offset than the 17mmshaft-pump camplate's.
i ever had a 'newer' camplate in my 'old' pump, it was my first plungerswap, when the pump was mounted on the engine it was ticking loud, much heat (watertemp), much smoke, and very bad running was the problem.
Anyway, who want this 12mm plunger

is the price to high or is there just no intrests???
