I've got and 1980 Caddy with a 1.6 diesel, I recently replaced all injectors with new and had the IP timed and lifter springs adjusted. Now when the truck hits 42 mph the engine starts cutting out. If I give it any more or less throttle it runs smoothly. Any ideas what I can check?
air in fuel lines or loose connector on fuel solenoid ? maybe 42 gives the magic vibration frequecy that shakes something loose a bit and causes a leak or short.
theres probably some air bubbles leaking in when the extra demand for fuel comes in. Definitely have to trace that. I'd say pop your hood.. start motor.. rev it a good couple of times and check for bubbles on the lines. If you see lots of bubbles.. you need to get rid of them. How old is the fuel filter?
Problem solved. It turned out to be a small leak on an injector line at the pump. It would only leak at a certain rpm. I tightened it up and no more problems.
Thanks everyone!
