I have this Nos AAZ head and I just noticed (after getting it built yp) that the passage along the length is open on both ends. Are there plugs for this? I'm hoping there isnt supposed to be anything in there...
Do you have any other heads to compare it to? Maybe that is where the go-fast fuel is supposed to get injected.
the heads i have on my shelf have what looks like a steel ball bearing in those holes. So they must be plugged somehow. the machine shop may have removed them to clean out the oil galley. i would talk to the machine shop, if they removed them then they should have them back in or at least spoken to you.
I think the missing ball is more likely the reason why this head sat on the shelf and was never used. Hopefully the ball bearing simply fell out and isn't inside. The passage is clear all the way through and measures 8.75mm so a 11/32 bearing (8.73mm) will fit but not necessarily seal...do I JB it or is there a more suitable epoxy.
