Hi all, I am new here. I am medicaly disabled/retired and dont turn wrenches anymore. I am looking for someone to take on a a project for me.
I have a like new 1987 Chevrolet S10 Blazer, Tahoe edition, 4X4, it has the original 2.8 V6 135Hp/135TQ (I think). I got it as an Estate Sale vehicle, it only has 62K garage kept senior citizen garage kept miles. The interior looks like it was never sat in and under the hood it looke like it was never on the road (it is really extra clean). I know there are complete kits (adapter plate, fly wheel starter, etc.....) like the one from Diesel Conversion Specialist's that will mate a Chevrolet 90 degree transmission bolt pattern to an ALH.
The Chevrolet 2.8 V6 is a real slug (I am sure there are riding mowers that are more impressive performance wise). I would like to find someone that has the talent and is interested in doing this conversion for me. Bolt up a mildly updated (slightly bigger injectors, turbo & towing/RV cam) 1.9 ALH to a Chevrolet TH700R4 with a Chevrolet 90 degree bolt pattern (the Blazer currently has a TH700R4 in it, but it has the the 2.8's 60 degree bolt pattern) with one of these kits.
Cliff70, I would be looking at the HP output of the diesel you want to install and the weight/ 4 X 4 option you have and seriously consider if you are going to do a lot of expensive work for a slug of a different sort.
I would be looking at some other Chevy engine to make it more original. If it is as nice as you say in and out then stay with the Chevy line and reduce your future headaches. Just my take on your request.
Buy another crate engine and have the performance and the authentic parts it should. Drop-in would be so much easier I think.
OH YEAH, WELCOME TO THE FORUM!!!!!!
