okay. acquaintance of mine has an aunt and uncle who owned a rabbit since new. years back when their daughter first started driving she pumped the tank full of gas and drove it until the motor quit. so.... what all has been ruined? or, can the motor be saved by purging gas from the pump, filter, tank and injectors? i am in the process of collecting these diesels to pass on to my own kids when they get to driving age. thanks in advance. i did do a search but have not found an answer. regards
i'd crack all the lines at the injectors, put the input line for the IP into a coke bottle of diesel, and crank for a while to get all the gas out.... .then put the lines back on and try firing it up on diesel.
i've seen a diesel VW run on gas until it quit before and the car was fine after, that was a TDI.
i don't see how it would hurt it, accept for how the gas has been sitting in the pump and probably got all nice gummed up, but i would figure that some diesel purge could take care of that. other wise it would be a matter of getting rid of most of the gas and then making sure the pump is primed with diesel, some gasoline mixed with diesel fuel isn't going to hurt anything.
