Gentlemen
I am wondering what that little plastic tee does that goes on the fuel filter. It connects the fuel return line from the injection pump to the return line to the tank. Is this tee used to warm up the fuel in the filter or does it do something else. I recently got a larger fuel water separator, and the filter head only has an inlet and outlet. So I'm wondering if it is okay to remove that tee and just have the return line going straight back to the tank. My car is a 94 Golf 1.9 by the way.
Thanks
Peter
Yes you can remove the white plastic tee whitout any problem.
Is only to warm up the fuel more rapidly when its cold. The tee open and let the fuel go directly to the tank when the fuel has a certain temperature acheived.
Its a good idea, but is a pain in the ass too. The tee leak after many years and let air come in the fuel supply to the pump.
Sorry for my english, i'n french.
Thanks Wingaman
I went and bought some fittings to connect everything. I will install it in a few days.
Thanks again
Peter
(by the way, your English is fine

)
By the way : that little widget can cause a lot trobles when faulty...
After fuel delivery problems, I (and Wingaman) changed my filter (wich was fine), removed my water separator (no change), changed hosesand even tank (thinking of probable sand-dust-whatever in thank). No change.
Always air in hose between filter and pump plus vacuum in pump.
Tough it could'ntbe the return vavle : would it have been the problem, I figured there woud be TOO MUCH pressure in filter, not a vaccum...
Finally,it was that damned valve (wich was brandnew -- replaced byprevention :? )
Back to the good old 1.6d filter (without return gestion). No more troubles.
(Excuse my english. I'm french too...)
