Do golf 1.6td's have fan after run to lower engine bay temp? ?
As far as I can tell, my car never had a after run temp sensor. the fan only continues to run after engine is switched off if the coolant in the radiator is hot enough.
Same with my 92 jetta 1.6 na
look on battery side of radiator, at the bottom, the fan sensor is there. it uses a fiber 1 time use gasket. fan is 2 speed, i usually only see high speed, but then again i have a/c. rarely runs for coolant temps. it ll have to idle for like 1/2hr for fan to run.
and like the warning for working in engine bay, fan is live if battery is hooked up
Same with my 92 jetta 1.6 na

89 Jetta NA
86 Jetta TD
Only had after-run sensor on my 91 Audi 200 Turbo... had the aux coolant circulation pump.
It would be easy enough to add one.

My car was originally a 86 NA. now it has 1.6 td. Code SB. With the aux water pump and water cooled turbo. But no sensor for engine bay temp.
During winters, as long as the car is on the move, the temp never rises above 87, the fan never comes on
But during summers, if I push with AC the temp will rise and fan comes on. But ever since I've gotten this engine, I haven't seen fan 2nd speed because of coolant.

I have an 85 NA, if the 2nd/high speed fan comes on it will run after the car is shut down. Happened to me many times (I'm in Texas)
that being said I did run for a whole summer with the high speed fuse blown out and I was fine. (had no idea it was blown)

if you use a/c, fan will run regardless
