Had a question, lately my ve pum pstarts, runs and idles fine however in the upper rpms, (around 2500) the pump kind of takes off on its own. If I let out of the throttle, it will die back down and be fine. Was wondering what component in the pump may be malfunctioning? I took the top of the pump off, nothing obvious. Maybe the metering valve? At any rate, I also have another question. This issue came out of the blue. Tried fiddling with fuel enrichment, throttle shaft, no difference. It will do it at light throttle, the rpms just kind of climb on their own.
This is a 1.6na motor outfitted with a turbo. I have one of tin tins m-tdi pumps sitting on the bench for a m-tdi build. What would need to be swapped from the tin tin pump to make it compatible with my 1.6d? I am confident in taking these pumps apart, as I have resealed a few.
Max fuel sounds like is too far in. You would basically have to take everything from the 1.6 pump and put it on the Mtdi pump as they are different advance and cam and plunger.
If you can take pumps apart then it should be no big deal to get this one going. It is probably in the settings...unless you are experiencing a runaway.
I tried fiddling with the fuel adjustment in the top of the pump. It didn't seem to make a difference.
go to the make your 1.6td / 1.9td a faster car threads in the FAQ,. Look up the main fuel screw, it is in too far sounds like
