Is there a bushing on the inside of the right hand side of the steering rack assembly?
The rack itself (with tie rod ends) is cluncking against the rack assembly on the right hand side.
Driving me crazy.
The left side of the rack (inside of the Assembly) looks to be supported by the pinion and adjustment wedge, what supports the far end of the rack on the right hand side?
The assembly itsself is firmly bolted to the body.
Thanks for the time and effert.
Yep, and they wear out, often, and the reman racks commonly available are crap(surprise).
The good news is there is a guy on ebay that sells a delrin replacement bushing for that rack, and for
the aftermarket one(different size) pretty cheap.
You pull the inner tierod, put bushing on with spacer and nut, and turn the wheel to pull it into
place, it snaps in a little spot in the rack that is smaller, and pushes the old one in out of the way.
Works like a charm. There is ton of info on VW Vortex's forum about those racks, look for
Quaif quick ratio upgrade stuff to find some of it when searching.
last one i had made up at machine shop was 20 due to me buying him lunch.. so if you got a friend with lath, a piece of hard plastic, derlin type is good.. make one..
Fantastic! I will look around some, and I do know a guy with a lathe.

Thanks for the help!
