I'm putting my intake manifold back on my AAZ engine. One of the bolts is a little sloppy in the allen part so I bought new bolts to replace the old ones.
The new bolts have no washers. The old bolts have washers on them (can't get them off, assume they were threaded on by a machine?
Do I need washers on the bolts? I'm thinking of getting some hardened M8 washers.
Thanks,
Bill
The washers were on the bolt and then the threads of the bolt were rolled on, not cut, is more likely.
Any old m8 washer will do. Just don't drop the washer into your head if the other manifold isn't on yet.
I am wondering if the PO of my car didn't try something of this sort and that is why I have two of the intake bolt holes that allow oil to blow or leak out of them. Careful on length there. I would run some washers on them as that is the design and they keep you from carving into the softer aluminum with the steel bolt.
