bending a V-belt in that fashion will make the jugs rip off eventually..
v-belts are not made to be tensioned from the rear..

i will see what happens, know my JD lawn mower deck has its belt bent over backwads like that for many years now (old Belt) , if the jugs start comeing off i will try a reg. belt ,this is the old belt what came w/the engine.

lawn mower belts have no lugs, and are designed to be tensioned from the back side..
lawn mower belts are WAY different in design than automotive belts..

i agree, they may be design differently or so "The Man" wants us to think, i will chuak this up to r@d project and see how long it lasts next step may be to get a mower belt to see what happens you never know untill you try .
its not a big deal to put a belt on if it comes off and alt lite will tell me when it comes off.
I do know that i dont hear that belt sqeal anymore

Right on. I tried a few belts and a reverse-flex idler; but I took the setup off for a re-think, as the lugs were coming off in cold weather.
Keep spares and tools with you... and please keep us posted. Thx.

ive used lawn mower belts on cars before without issue..
i WOULD NOT HESITATE to running a green belt on my car if i had a reverse tensioner setup..

The spare belt I carry is an A34. It's a bit wider than the stock belt, but it has no lugs, and it was dirt cheap.
