whats the difference between the NA and the TD heads?

At least in the 1.6 TD heads, I understand that the valves are different (sodium filled valves for the TD) and that the head casting itself is reportedly made of a different alloy.
I believe there was some speculation a while back whether any of the special alloy remains now that some remanufacturers use the same castings for both apps.
You might check the archives here though... Others have documented this.
Some say 1.6TD heads are made of aluminium, others say stainless steel... I don't know..
could i use a na head on a beater TD motor? its an eco motor and i would just like to get it running.
