Better steer clear of the cops cuz that's illegal everywhere.
You could make it cosmetic only and drive all the enforcement folks crazy.
So now he can smoke himself out, not just the guy behind him.

the cops never once said anything about my coal pouring hood stack.. its still on my Jetta actually. they were more worried about my window tint, and my front license plate having a worn off MONTH sticker..
being that i actually have one, i can comment on how HORRIBLE these things are.. they make a black stripe down your windshield, and the roof of your car..
and believe it or not, my hood stack doesnt allow any smoke to come inside the car..
that one, being WAY off to one side like that, may allow smoke to POUR in the passenger side of the car..
god, being an n/a, i bet that thing is LOUD AS HELL!!! theres not enough exhaust system there to make it quiet!
Aiming the sound strait up is probably the best way to attenuate perceived noise on an unmuffled exhaust.
DOT noise testing is done from behind, I think it might pass.
How does the hood open? I'm guessing the pipe would need to raise and lower with the hood? How is the pipe coupled to the manifold?

lol, any exhaust fore of the passenger compartment is illegal. DOT would not let that car leave unless it was on a trailer.

You'd have to remove it for a safety, but then it wouldn't need an E-test.. so after the safety put it back on and good to go.
Alternatively, find your friendly neighborhood mechanic to safety it as is..
We don't have safety inspections in California
That splains all those ratty looking cars sneaking over our southern boarder. I knew it!
