hi there
i am slowly building my 11mm pump and after installing the pump head i tryed to rotate the pump, but is hard and i am affraid something is wrong and brake if i forced it...
so,how hard is it?
i assume that with this head might be harder than stock...
Very hard to turn. When you say "by hand" do you mean without any tool on the sprocket? That would be very hard. Even with a 19mm wrench on the bolt it's a pretty stiff turn.
It's hard.. Really hard.
Bigger head, more resistance. 8 mm you can turn with one hand, 11 mm you have to use both hands on the sprocket.
Just built me a 10mm m_tdi and I could still turn the pulley with one hand. There its some great resistance.. As you would have seen from being inside the pump..the cam plate had to force those two big springs down near the head and roll up over the rollers.. Its probably fine if it turns at all, as it wouldn't if something weren't right.
I noticed they don't turn "consistently" but there are places where it is difficult to turn and once then it becomes easier, to where you can turn it by hand (with no tools). As mentioned, I think you have to overcome the resistance of springs in there.

Yes, exactly. There is ramps on the cam plate. When it is easy to turn between hard spots you are on the cam flats. When it is hard you are running it up the ramp and compressing to large springs inside the pump.
