mtdi question pump mounting plate AAZ to ALH

will a diesel injection pump mounting plate from a mk1 mk2 mk3 diesel engine mount to a ALH diesel engine? is the bolt pattern for the mounting plate the same on an ALH as it is on a AAZ. I would like to mount an AAZ mechanical pump to a ALH engine, because ALH engines are more available. also eliminate the aluminum mounting bracket from an ALH. or would it be easier to use the 2 piece hub wheel thing from a ALH etdi pump on a an AAZ pump and use the ALH pump mounting bracket?
why? I have owned many computers and I trust none of them. I want a mechanical pump please
first post in 3 years, thank you vwdiesel.net for helping me assemble my 1.6 idi jetta, drove it to work everyday for 2 years, 50 mpg, used a aaz mls head gasket, no blown head gaskets. only problem in 2 years, alternator failed.

well... I rebuilt the pump that I drove for last 2 years straight, and I have been told that the AAZ pump is a direct bolt on for the AHU to make it a mtdi, and a couple other parts. I don't want to run a turbo, turbo delete, add a n/a diesel or gas intake with runners. the same power that the 1.6 had is fine. the 1.6 engine I rebuilt had 300k non turbo miles on it before the rebuild, and I have seen too many exploded and or leaking all of the oil out of the engine turbos to want one. I would be happy to use the 1.6 idi for another 100k miles except for the idi part. I am worried that the steel pre-cups in the aluminum head will crack and fall apart and kill the engine. every other idi head I have seen has cracked pre-cups. Also the part where the idi engine will not start without glow plugs even in hot summer, where the direct injection 1.9tdi will start up with no glow plugs in very cold weather. the 1.9 tdi is a better engine. even better with no computer and no turbo. simple, reliable, still with more power and better mileage than a hybrid.
but in response to your question, does the AAZ injection pump mounting plate have the same bolt pattern on an AAZ as it does on a ALH? thank you for answering my question.

first off, idk what bolt patterns they have.. im an IDI guru, not much experience with TDI engines..
but i do know that an AAZ pump is meant to run an IDI diesel, not a TDI.. if it runs, it will have LESS POWER than a 1.6n/a
a proper M-Tdi pump is $1200 for a good reason.. it takes 3 different pump cores to build a proper M-Tdi pump.. you need a TDI pump for the actual high pressure pump head, and cam plate..
why do you want to get rid of the injection pump bracket on the ALH? its ALOT better than the stamped steel unit..

IF this is the route you wish to take, I would try and find a DI Land rover pump from the UK. They are from a 2.5L engine and will be able to supply you enough of whatever you need from it. From what I understand they also bolt to the ALH bracket with minor modifications. PM CSRMP5 or CRSMP5, he has used a rover pump on a mechanical ALH if I am not mistaken.
If you wanted to run the AAZ, if you could make it mount up, then all you would need to change in the pump is the rollers, cam plate, fuel distributor, and the distributor head from an AHU,, maybe even an ALH pump. The 1.9 IDI AAZ pump will run the DI motor just fine, but not in stock configuration.
Once you get the pump all figured out and are running DI specific innards, I don't see why you wont make the same horsepower a stock 1.6TD makes at roughly 65-70hp and the same torque an AAZ makes at 100-105ft/lbs.

if you can get an AHU itd be a bit easier.. the 1,9 pump will mount right to it. I have a picture that best describes what I am trying to say.

Here its my 1.6 pump mounted to the stock ahu bracket..I do not think the alh is at all the same.

8v-of-fury thank you for your response I will be looking for a AHU or 1Z engine and not an ALH. there is a reason nobody is doing the mtdi conversion to the ALH. I dont own a 1.9tdi or a car to put around one yet. much more homework first. thank you for your help.

fyi.. the rover pump is pretty much direct fit on a ALH... mounting a rover pump to a AHU is much like mounting a ALH pump on a AHU...
those pumps can be gotten from ebay uk for 100-200+shipping...

no, people do it, and they use the ALH because its SOO MUCH TOUGHER..
