i dont know where any engines are, thats why hes posting here..
im going to be helping him with the swap, and we are looking for an engine that DOES NOT need a rebuild..

Thought I saw a couple on CL Portland and Salem autoparts, VW or Rabbit as the search word. But they may all be rebuilds not drop ins. I did a couple PM's with him already. School buddies eh?

everything anyone has showed me, has been that of the premium price group.. people think these engines are gold plated.
there ARE engines available for under $500... i see them all the time..
i keep telling him to not be in a hurry, and one will turn up..
if i were going to spend the better part of a grand on an engine, i basically want a written warranty, or for it to be rebuilt..
i know we can find him a cheapo block, and rebuild it for under a grand..
that guy in corvallis wanted like $650 for an engine that wasnt even complete..

I just looked at an 81 pickup with a diesel engine 5 spd transmission combo with 275K on it earlier this week. Guy finally priced it for 950. Very rough body, interior and I expect engine but hey that's for the whole vehicle not just the engine.

Depends where your going to get it. West coast? Their cars are immaculate and unlikely to have any motor donors, central ie. Ontario, many many donors.. Simply because the GTA pretty much is half our countries population

I heard a bunch of oregonians splashing around in a pool, and I thought I'd hop in. Same ish down here. Just saw a rabbit a blown motor, and EEK....that rust stuff......1500. Seems like nowadays they either fall in your lap, or they get an arm and a leg, just to sit and rot

so, the likely hood of finding a diesel in BC is rather slim? because thats what i would do.. drive to BC.. its like 8 hours from me..
