Sorry if this has been covered before but the search feature was not cooperating with me. The head gasket was leaking oil into the cooling system and after I replace head gasket I need to clean the cooling system of oil. What's the best way or product to buy to do this? Thanks for all replies.

coolant flush..
its basically a soap/detergent safe for the cooling system..
or dawn dish soap works too. then flush with water till clean..
*fill system with WATER. add some dish soap/coolant flush. run it for a day or so, drain, repeat if necessary. then flush it out real good and re-fill with coolant*
and by flushing, i mean take the thermostat out, and take the top rad hose off, and back flush with a garden hose thru the top water neck.
re-fill
good to go.
and pickeling vinager will help remove any scale or rust in the cooling system as well.....cheap and enviromentely safe to...
First drain the coolant/oil mixture then fill with water. Then run the engine with a garden hose trickling into the reservoir and float the oil to the top of the tank and let it spill over.
After removing as much oil as you can then do several flushes with cascade dishwasher detergent. Repeat the garden hose in reservoir before dumping each flush as any oil will float to the top.
Its messy as hell but it works.

all that oil under the hood should keep the dust away from your air cleaner atleast.. hahaha
well i live in a hot dusty town....and do alot of my wrenching in the unpaved driveway.....bit of oil in hot water really dose help...lol
Washing soda will do the trick. It's what Cummins has recommended to us. Mix with fresh water and heat cycle the engine, drain, repeat until no evidence of oil in the water.
