Guys,
My mk3's almost finished, i'll post some images soon. Converted to 5 stud now, rolling on 17" Audi RS7.
But i'm thinking of my next project now which will be another mk3 along the same lines as my current one.
I have 2 engines sitting. A 1Z TDI and a tired AAZ needing rebuilt. Either way, whats the current situation with performance cams for these engines. Simon Cooper runs a high lift cam, but does anyone know what from ? He needed to remove material from the head I think for it to work.
Any info much appreciated.
DM
I have both TDI cams and IDI cams that require no modifications to the engine. As far as I know we are the only company that offers custom cams for the vw diesel engines.
Simon's cam that he was running was on his 1z based TDI motor running 2.5 TDI van pistons with deeper valve impressions as well as many other goodies. The cam he was usiing was a unit from a 8V gasser GTI I believe that he had machine work done to as well as having to clear the head so that it would clear in some portions. Might want to email him on it...might be able to give you more infomation...
As for 935Racer's cams... yeap, only one that is known of right now aside from Kerma (on TDIclub) that has done a cam for a TDI motor. He found the results weren't worth the sacrifice of low end torque as well as for a couple other reasons. I'm not sure on the results of 935Racer's cams as I don't believe we've had a post as to how they are performing on the respective motors, etc. Would be interesting info though.

Dave,
What sort of price are we talking for each type ?
What difference in design over the original ? What difference in performance ?
I take it there have been motors tested with the new cams, how have they performed ?
Regards, DM
