You spelled "diesel" wrong in the title. If you can change that you should.
Also, you could add that it is a mechanical lifter head to the title.
The cracking between the valves is nothing to worry about (usually). It's only if the cracks are too wide that it can be a problem. I think the Bentley (service manual) specs it at the width of a penny. It's always a good idea to pressure test the head before investing in a rebuild because of this.
Thanks for your responce. Will check the spelling. Can you clarify that this is an early 80's 1.6 head, not a 1.8? I have known my machinist for over 30 years. I trust him completely. He said the crack was no problem.
That is a 1.6 liter head.. There was no 1.8 diesel, and all the 1.9 diesels had hydraulic lifters.. Since it has 12mm head bolts it should fit 1982ish and up
