my first TD (A2 Jetta) had 383000km, and a broken shut wastegate. Did 18.2 Q-mile and beat a cammed, dual exhaust 82 impala doing it. I was the second slowest car there that day!

Hi all, just joined up.
Central VW in the UK has a MK2 golf running 13.03 @ 107mph 1/4 mile.
Present horse power is 250.5 flywheel and 232 at the wheels over 380 ftlb torque. The site hasnt been updated for a while, so im sure he's upped the power some more.

That is TDI-RS... and I'm not sure that the motor they mention that made those runs is even in the car anymore. It was sold to a friend of his who has it now (its a 1z block base with 2.5 van pistons and deeper valve reliefs cut). TDI-RS or "simon" is now working on a 2.0 16v PD if i remember correctly...

That's correct and the turbo on his old 1Z is some sort of GT25/28 hybrid with the turbine wheel cut back a little bit. I'll need to dig up tdirs (Simon)'s emails as it's been a couple years. He may also have run a GTI gasser cam and he had to grind parts of the head to clear the cam rotation. "H" beam rods were also installed, the block needed notching/grinding to clear the rods. He mentioned methanol/water injection a few times, not sure if he used that to run low 13's.
IIRC over at tdiclub.com QuickTD posted a link to a video of a foreign 1.9TD in a MK3 style body that went through the 1/4 mile in 13 seconds without too much smoke. That was one or two years ago, I tried going bcak to that site to see if the video still loads, but the site no longer exists.

It's certainly not a hosepower record setter, but the moderately tuned 1.6 VNTD Rabbit daily driver (peak boost not greater than 12.5-13 psi and just a light whisp of smoke) turned a respectable 16.5 best 1/4 mile ET and 82.5 mph best trap speed.
I attribute a lot of the performance to the engine's broad powerband (due to the tuned governor and VNT turbo) and the 2-door Rabbit chassis' light weight. More info:

That is impressive! Sounds like it's solidly tuned.. one of my favourite IDIs. My friend's 2.0L 16v is fun to drive and traps 80-85mph. I'll take that 1.6 VNTD anyday!
His 16v is no match for my 1.6 though.. I'll have 1/4 mile #s this season.

Almost had forgotten. Few years ago there was a guy who ran 13,7 with 1,9TD Caddy. I heard that he blew a con rod at 50+psi boost. Havenīt heard of him since.

Yes itīs 1,6. Turbo is Garrett VNT20, Iīm looking for a bigger VNT
Overheating: Yes, => one cracked head, from intake runner to prechamber. Now I have changed bigger radiator and added a oil cooler. Will see the results at summer.
Problems: Clutch slipped, changed a 3 pad copper disc => front tires wear out in couple months
