I have my door apart and need a source for fabric or new door cards, my color is blue. Has anybody done this or should I take it to the upholstery shop?
Thanks
i would just take it to the upholstery shop. ive seen too many people attempt to make new door cards, and have them just look horrid..
Buy complete door cards, man.
Any auto upholstery guy worth a damn will charge you more than they are worth.
I always keep tabs on CraigsList, and just recently picked up a complete
brown interior for a mk2: Door cards, handles, a, b & c pillar trim, rear seat, etc..
for FREE!!
It came from a 85k mile garage queen 4 dr Golf...
Keep the faith, and look to buy.
even up to like $200, and you should be well under the cheapest upholstery shop.

This is also a chance for you to add a little bit of customization that looks stock. The door cards are super easy to disassemble, and they arent really fancy with the lines, so doing it yourself isn't out of the question either.
Two or three yards of your preferred color of this stuff
http://www.yourautotrim.com/tespfsu.html and a can or two of DAP spray adhesive will get ya a nice suede look without the suede cost.
If your door cards fabric is still decent, you can use them as a template to cut the new material with. Take your time and make sure you let them dry for at least 24 hours before you reassemble, and you got a nice new look you can really be proud of.
