I notice a few people say things about their car like Canadian model, or AAZ, etc.
How do I find these things out about my car? Serial number?
I guess what I'm really asking is, what are a few things I can look at to give me the most info possible about what I am driving?
Thanks,
Tim
AAZ = 1.9TD engine.
Your signature:
'86 Golf 1.6l n/a diesel
I doubt you have a 1.9TD

But if you want to be sure check the flat spot below 2nd and 3rd cylinder, there should be a 2 of 3 letter enginecode followed by the 6 digit enginenumber..
There aren't many differences between Canadian and American cars, but I put that in my signature pretty much because I thought it's a bit rare to see a Canadian car in the US. As far as I've been able to ascertain, the 88 TD was not sold in the US, so it is a little odd in that respect. As for differences? Well, it has a maple leaf on the door tag, the speedometer is in kilometers, and the parking brake warning light just has an exclamation point instead of saying "BRAKE" like the US cars.
