WTB-----AAZ Manifold-----K-14 style---see picture

Hi Everybody,
I'm going to try to put a water cooled turbo on the caddy and was looking for a manifold off an AAZ motor. Or at least the one in the picture is off one. I'm looking for one like in the picture. I will have to fabricate an adapter plate between the manifold and the turbo. So this style doesn't seem to take up much room. Thanks for the help,
-JB

What kind of turbo are you planning on mounting?

It's an IHI VF14. Came off a JDM 2ltr subie motor that was about 280 hp. Its about the same size as a K-14 but its a ball bearing turbo. I have heard that BB turbo's spool about 30% faster and flow about 30% more on the top end. I'm hoping for K-14 on steriods. I still have to see where is the best place to tap in to the cooling system to get some flow through the turbo and return it back into the system.

The picture above should be any transverse VW TD manifold. 1.6-1.9 Like the ones in Golfs and Jettas. You would probably want to stay away from Quantum manifolds and maybe Vanagon, but not for sure. Just looking for a 1.6 TD manifold from a Golf or Jetta should find many here and on fleabay.

What shape is the flange on that turbo?

The flange looks like this.

I haven't seen anything like it.
Does anybody have an extra manifold they want to sell?

Hey,
Still looking for a manifold, so I'm giving this a bump. I have the parts to make an adapter to mount the turbo to the manifold. Now I just need the manifold.
Thanx,

hopefully the diesel will spool a gasser turbo..
there have been many people try and adapt gasser turbos to diesels, only to find out they spool way late, or hardly spool at all..

I have one with a jv11 on it, was going to be put on a gasser to make a 1.8 turbo in a bunny

I dont understand why you say this? as long as the turbos are the same size a diesel should spool it no problem should it not? I can see a bigger gas turbo spooling later, but thats just like any bigger turbo.

---------BUMP------- STILL LOOKING------
R.O.R. The turbo is a turbine spun by hot gas, if the engine produces enough hot gas it will spin the turbine. Perhaps in the example you are using the turbo was the wrong size (too big) for the engine. In my case it's a BB Turbo about the size of a K-14. Should spool very fast. I just don't know what kind of boost I can get before I'm outside the "happy place" on the compressor map. I can't find a map for this.
Anyway, still looking......

well, you can take 2 pretty identically sized turbos, one from a gasser, and one from a diesel, and the diesel one will always spool up at lower RPMS..
diesels almost always have a bigger hot side than cold side..
and gassers have a bigger cold side than hot..
thats how it was explained to me..
you know how we get a .48/.42 T3?
with a gasser turbo, the numbers would be opposite..
and gasser turbos are made to spool higher in the RPM range than a diesel turbo..

R.O.R. What you say makes sense.
