I was interested in what parts will interchange between the truck, and the cars. I just picked up an 81 VW diesel pickup for $1100. It looks like the dash will interchange? The trucks dash has a chunk out, and is pretty crudy.
Everything in front of the rear window is interchangable...
so are the rear brakes (not e-brake cables or lines)
so are the fuel pumps/accumulators but the mount brackets are different (on gas versions)
Not to cause problems, but I'm pretty sure that the pickup had 200mm rear brakes that are larger than that used on the r/s/j.
But I'll second that everything seats forward is the same as a 4 door rabbit.
Hope this helps.
you're probably right. my caddy had disks when i got it, i assumed the rear brakes would have been the same...you would think rabbit owners would think about upgrading to caddy parts when they do rear brakes. maybe i should find a set.
I think Audis have a different bolt patteren ... 4 x 108?
You could probably use the backing plate and stub axle but would have to get caddy drums ... unless you don't mind having rear rims that are different than the ones on the front.
That's good to know.
There's an Audi 4000 at the local pick and pull. It had new shoes and bearings in the trunk that I got for about $2.
Then my buddy told me the drums would have the wrong bolt pattern.
I'll be sure to grab them, the rear springs and spring seats next time I'm there.
