So i removed my water pump on my 1.6 td to see if the impelar had failed and what not. Its got but came to find my problem lies at the thermstate so the question i have is how the heck do you get that sucker out to change it? Also broke a few bolts on the removal of the water pump so will have to remove them as well next thing is im goin to need a new p/s pulley where can i find one of them not auto wreckers here have them.
You have to remove the stinkin' power steering bracketry and pump to get to the thermostat. Long live the Mk1.
Long live the Mk1.
And MK2... and MK3... same procedure... ack!
Go see how much dave at columbia auto haus wants for one joe. I bet its mega cheap and he will have it in 2 days
Also from what I can find the pulley is going to be the same off all mk2 power steering pumps, gas and diesels. It also sort of looks the same as my the pulley on my mk3 pump but im not possotive. Im sure someone would be able to confirm that. If it is coopers auto wrecker has 2 mk3 jettas ive been getting parts from that you would be able to get the pulley from.
Haha thanks buddy i looked at ur name and was like wtf.... And realized who it was but yea got the thermostat out. Now i started to pull off the head again to replace the headgasket. As it ran awsome but bubbled into the coolant resivoir and was hard to start so change that and hopefully its good to go.
Cheers
Went to coopers and skb, no such luck at either place there all serp setups or have the pulleys gone already
ohh didnt know that, thats no help.
