I'm here in the US, and I'm wondering if there isn't an aftermarket brand of sodium-filled exhaust valves for the Hydraulic-lifter heads. I'm hoping to find TRW or Osvat valves. I'm thinking, since VW sold alot more 1.6TDs in Canada, and a lot more hydro turbos, maybe the parts suppliers actually REALIZE that the 1.6TD with hydro head actually exist.
In the US, we only got the 1991-1992 ECOdiesel, and only about 500-800 of those were ever sold here. As such, the only parts that are available are those that interchange with the 1.6NA. So, all the US supplier catalogs only list the 1.6NA hydro exhaust valves (if they list any at all).
If anyone knows, I'd love to find a supplier. I've got 2 1.6NA hydro heads that I want to convert to turbo, and I don't want to resort to some made-in-china ***e sold from our buddy on ebay.
What's the engine code for the hydraulic lifter turbo motor?
there is a guy in tiffin ohio that sells under cut stainless swirl polished sets for about as much money as one exhaust valve from VW. Stainless will take the heat.

Google him and give him a call, it is what is in my head that will soon be on the road.
Also, MykeW the mod here has the best stock valve pricing I have seen. So if you need stock it should be one ups day away from him to you.
Giles can get them for $13.00 CAD each
