I have an BEW pump duce motor from an 04 Jetta. The motor came from a tech at the dealership. The customer cracked the oil pan, but immediately shut the engine off. Against the techs advice they put in a different motor out of the junk yard. I bought the motor from the tech to put into a caddy, not realizing that I would have to "reinvent the wheel" to get this to fit into the car. I know it could be done, but its more work than I want to take on. I'm going with an AAZ swap instead.
Anyway, upon inspection the motor looks fantastic, no problems in the bearings or cam, super clean. I made some calls to the dealerships and they said the bolts are not reusable (like head bolts). I am looking for a source of replacement bolts for the rods and mains. The dealer parts guy had a hard time finding the part numbers and said the rod bolts are $16.00 each. Still getting back to me on the mains. Does this seem a bit high? If anyone has a sources for these let me know.
Thanks for the help,
-Jeff
Main bolts are same as other engines, AM10x80mm (N 90130001 ~1,25€/each) Rod bolts M8x1x44mm (045105425 ~4,1€/each) Prices are in Finland, $16/each sounds a bit high...
Yeah,
I thought that was a bit high too. I know a place that specializes in metric bolts. What is the bolt quality spec (grade of bolt) I should ask them for? Other wise ARP bolts might be cheaper.
Main bolts are 10.9, i've used regular 12.9 bolts. Rod bolts are special.
