Hi,
I'm looking for a good used front sway bar / stabilizer bar, with all 4 mounting brackets and bushings,to retrofit into my 82 VW pickup / Caddy.
I believe these were stock pieces on the early GTI's up to 84' ?
Bushings are optional,as I would be installing with new bushings anyway..If they are still available ?
Let me know what you have and how much $$
Thanks,Mike

The bushings are available but not too easy to track down, you can find them on ebay. As for the bar I found mine in the junkyard on a later cabby. There are a couple of different sizes, I think 25mm and 28mm?

I have a complete setup from an 83 Rabbit GTI. 40 bucks.

What rear bar is it? I've been scouting the junkyard for a low cost solution for this as well.

I wish my paypal account had a few more dollars in it! Those bars would be in the mail.

The Addco bars are still available new for about $220-250. Check out JC Whitney. That's for the Caddy rear sway (different from Rabbit).
Just about every aftermarket company out there makes upgraded kits for MK1 Sedans and convertibles. AFAIK, Addco is the only company that still makes a rear bar for the Caddy.
FYI to the original poster. Let us know how you solve the fuel line issue. The rear mounting cups for the control arms (and sway bar) will hit your fuel feed and return lines. You'll have to reroute them in order to make the sway bar mounting cups fit. On the MK1 GTis and Cabriolets, the fuel were routed in FRONT of the mounting cup. On all MK1 Diesels, the fuel lines are BEHIND the mounting cup/brackets.

Quantum TD, Thanks for the "heads up".
I didn't realize the fuel lines would need to be re-routed.
I've never actually seen a MK1 front sway bar setup, installed (only kits for sale)
Every rabbit I ever owned, pitched horribly around turns and off ramps. I think the sway bar and it's necessary mods, will be well worth it in a caddy as well.
I'll post the install, when I get the bar.
Agian,thanks for the info !

MK1 front sway bars are on most Cabriolets, and all Scrioccos. Of course GTIs too.
