Hey folks, I was able to get a quick, clean sounding, start-up after skipping time at Start-Up. (With some Help) I followed the steps for releasing tension on cam-retaining bolts and getting it back to TDC. The first attempt failed. After torqueing down cam bolts, TDC?..ing, and replacing belt, there was still interference. I realized.. (HOPED!) that TDC was 180 degrees off. Took belt off AGAIN...Loosened cam pulley AND cam-retainer bolts AGAIN...Turned crank around to TDC MARK....AGAIN. Zipped it all back to torque specs and timed to 1.05. Rotated crank to TDC 3 times with NO... INTERFERENCE.....Turned it over 4 or 5 times ( with loosened injector lines) to hear engine and bleed lines. After tightening injector lines it started instantly. No valve noise and no extra scary sounds. After letting it warm-up, I gave it a drive and it was great. No smoke, no rattles, no knocking. It's actually running smoother than before. I believe"TRUE TDC" was a bit off before the T-belt skip accident We'll see what the future holds for the valves holding-up and not grenading. Fingers will be crossed and prayers will increase. I am a Very Happy Camper right now!!! A Catastrophe Averted?...So far.... THANK YOU Lilybapa and Vince for the procedures and quick responses. Drove it about 70 miles round-trip,today, with no issues of new sounds,drive, or smoke. I'm hoping for atleast a few more months out of the head with no (bang-ping-pow!) I'll probally drive it like an Ol' Lady... If I did'nt have the turbo project almost ready to go and no extra time or $$$, I would have definetly pulled the head..inspected the valves and done a gasket. If the head manages to stay intact, I may install the turbo engines head on this n/a block. I'll post some pics of the n/a's head and valve situation if it makes it to the photo shoot...My last "deep" car thoughts of the day on VW Diesel "Replacement" Parts...German and US metals "CAN" break...but Chinese metals "WILL" break...Sooner than you expect.
