I'm still at 198$/year on the Golf.
I've had it since 98 and I haven't changed policies.
The Cabriolet is 700$/year, almost no coverage.
I'm quite happy.
Just for the fun of it. It's 1300$/year first driver on a BMW 323is 2000 and it's 1980$/year on a Jetta TDI 2000.
Those were estimates I got last year.
***ed up insurances companies.

...but wed. night i cant, im going to my buddies body shop cause i just got backed into tonight....some guy was backing his pick-up outta the drive way, and hit my car parked on the side of the street....he said he doesnt want to go through insurance (and neither do i) but he'll pay how ever much it costs...i already got most the dent out (took out the panel and used my foot) but theres still 2 small dents, and the paints cracked  ....how long of a job is it to adjust the timing?

I'm 21 years old and I pay 430$/year of insurance on my 90 Jetta TurboDiesel. Yes is only one-side and i have no fire, and all the thing coverage. (But my 1500$ 16" mags are insured.) And i got a responsible accident and a speed ticket who increase the insurance price. I'm insured at ING.
I wouldn't ever pay 2400$ of insurance on a 89 car

you're in quebec. different ball of wax. insurance in ontario is so bad i'm thinking of subletting an apartment in a different province so that i can have a non-ontario address.
you think $2400 on an '89 is bad, how about $3600+ for an '82?

To only check to pump timming it takes a couple of minuites ,adjusting takes aprox 15 mins , but I would suggest that the crank to cam timming should be checked also ,The only thing is that you will need a new valve cover gasket for this procedure. That takes 10 minutes to check and adjust ,If you get the new gasket make sure you get the new style (one piece) type. I dont know if anywhere around here has the new style gasket other than the dealership , Its not big$ anyway.

you dont necessarily HAVE TO replace the valve cover gasket... if you're really tight on funds, just reuse the one that is on there. if it leaks,
then replace it.
