Hello all.
I have just installed a new rad in my 91 N/A 1.6L golf. This is the first time I have worked with a sealed system like this and found getting the air out of the system way harder than removing and installing the rad. After newmerous burps I got the temp guage to settle into it's middle position. The problem happens when I "occassionally" take the car in excess of 120kph. When I do this the temp falls to cold and I have less heat. My father said I probably had a air blockage in the heater core. I took the hoses off with it running and not running and did a one hour test run and it's still happeneing. Suggestions are greatly appreciated at this point.
Thanks in advance.
Greg
Anyone have experience with new rad installs? Did I miss something? It's still falling to cold on the highway. I'll see if I can burp more air out before my trip home tonight.

Ya I just rediscussed the prob. with my fatrher and he thought the gauge was climbing. He said thermostat too. I'll do it this weekend and hopefully that will fix her good!
Thanks

getter done, let us know if you solved it.

Check the Fox manual, they describe a procedure for bleeding air from the system It involves pulling one of the temp sensors `til you get coolant out of the hole, can`t remember WHICH sensor tho`,.... :? :?
Hey! That makes sense. There's only one temp sensor as far as I saw when doing the instal. I'll get the new thermo but I'll try a bleed with the snsor removed prior to opening the package.
Thanks!
Greg
if you dont use the thermo now, keep it sealed and put it in the trunk in case you need it at the side of the road someday
Will do.
I'm having another seemingly larger issue. I create an new thread.
