Got told by all the auto parts stores today that I had to buy a complete 16V clutch assembly to get the heavy pressure plate. Need the right AAZ disc to match the splines on the tranny......
Went to the Altrom sight and found what I think I need to order. The confusion is probably due to the fact that Altrom lists the pressure plate as clutch cover/p.plate.
Pressure plate # 027 141 025R (2 pin)
and
Clutch disc # 068 141 037M
Anyone tell me if I got it right??
assuming its the original 020 transmission, the 16v disc should be the same spline size and diameter. the difference between the 8v and 16v setups is the pressure plate, it has a higher clamping force (16v) than the 8v gas plate. however, im not sure if the diesel plate is any different than the 8v or 16v plates
I've been told teh 16V engines had a different input shaft on the tranny, even though they were still an 020 transmission. Been wrong before though.........
yep, 16V transmissions use a larger diameter input shaft.
http://www.clutchnet.com/home.phpThis guy has good stuff, but pricey. Call him and ask for George.

It is a clutchnet 210mm red pp with a 210mm 6 spring 6 puck red disc with the small 24 spline hub. I think it is the setup for the 8v scirocco?
That is what I did.

thats what i thought. because everyone always offers different part numbers for clutches for 8v and 16v cars.
messed up one thing on those numbers, the 8 valve gas dis goes with the 16 valve pressure plate. The number I listed is for the diesel disc, big bucks and not sure it will fit the 16 valve plate. I'll let everyone know what I used and how it works when I'm done.

Was offered a centerforce clutch for a little over 400 bucks, should have less than 200 in the 16 valve plate/8 valve disc when I get done.
