I want to get more power from my 1.9 TD (AAZ, K14 turbo) so this is what I am planning:
1. EGT
2. Intercooler
3. VNT turbo ? (maybe)
4. IP mods (replacing the AAZ “joke” pin with 1.6 TD boost pin, governor mod, LDA and max fuel adjustments)
1.9TD pump does not have the large screw on the top of the LDA nor the starwheel so no adjustments can be made here.
Is it better to replace the 1.9 pump with 1.6 pump and have all LDA adjustments available? I can get a used 1.6 pump from a wrecker for $300 and rebuild it myself. Or keep the 1.9 pump and just replace the boost pin?
I WOULD GET A PUMP , SEND TO GILES FOR OHC
2'5 DOWNPIPE ?
EGT GAUGE / BOOST : McNally
Gee-Bee
VNT turbo would be a great addition.
so does that work? 1.6 pump on 1.9, or even vice versa?
just swap out the unions, lines, injectors?
i have a (1.6) GTD pump on my AAZ, you need the pump, complete with pulley and the bolts to hold it on and thats it...
On my AAZ, I sent the pump to Giles...best money I ever spent. The VNT is nice, but a pain to build a controller for, so I just installed a Garrett T3 from the 1.6. I have a 2.5" PP downpipe and custom exhaust with a Magnaflow muffler.
Add an intercooler, and a manual boost controller. Get an EGT gauge (I got AutoMeter because it matches the rest of my gauges). The important thing is the EGT probe, not the gauge. Aircraft Spruce sell the best one. It responds faster than most.
If you are sticking with 20psi max the K14 will be just fine.
