ok my daily driver is about to die. it has 500 000Kms on it and there has been no really big overhauls. aways i going to replace that with the jetta that i was going to mod and then would need a new car to mod and race. i was thinking about a G60 Corrado but then drove by the gas station and looked at the price. i really liked the idea of a Corrado and thought that would be a sweet car to drive. i then thought that the G60 is a 4 cyl. and the TD is too. would a 1.6 or 1.9 TD fit in to a 1993 or 94 Corrado? has anyone every tried something like this? also while i had the motor out i was thinking that it would make it a bit easyer to fab a twin turbo in to it. has a twin turbo ever been done on a TD? would the TD be able to take that kind of boost?
give me some idea on what i should make \ buy. money is not really a object but would like to keep the costs down!!
thanks for the help
yes to everything, but why not leave it single turbo. It's simple, cheap, and works great!
Or better yet, pick up a low-mielage A3 TDI from a wrecker and drop it in - much smoother engine, more power, more tunability. This has been my five year plan for, well, about five years now. I just haven't tripped over a really nice clean Corrado for dirt cheap yet...

I would definitely go with a 1.9 over a 1.6 in the Corrado. 1.6's are fun in A1's, (well, OK Dr Diesel's is fun in his A2) but the Corrado is a bit of a pig, so you'll want the extra torque from the 1.9.
bad ideas. all bad ideas.
(dammit i thought my diesel corrado was going to be somewhat original!! )
No way man.
It's been done at least once - most likely a few times.
A friend of mine on the Scirocco list bought this one a year or so ago:

Drew
has anyone ever transplanted a tdi? what do u do with all the ecu stuff? will it work with the G60 or VR6 ecu or do they even have one? my dad has a 96 Passat TDI and i love the feel of the motor and the power it has, even in the 1200 kg Passat! thanks for the help!
yes ive heard of or seen pics of at least 5 diesel corrados... but only one that i know of in north america. i'm sure there are more.
the 96-97ish TDIs are good candidates for TDI donor engines. the ECU and electrics will all need to be swapped in from the donor, the G60/VR stuff will not be compatible.
