  is there anything i need to be doing to get the best out of engine with this until i have the money for all the gauges to go boot mad

  I drilled and tapped before I sent them off for coating...

• Get an EGT gauge or go easy on the throttle until you do.  That pin is quite cable of allowing fuelling to reach excessive and engine melting levels.
