Is this mod worth it ?
I know I would need a EGR race pipe adapter ..( dieselgeek.com )
Thanx
i dunno how much pd150 manifolds cost, but i'd much rather have a 1y intake or something, but then you have to use a different turbo or flip it.
why would you need an egr race pipe adaptor??? just block it off... get rid of the egr as it will clog up the intake in a short period. the PD130/150 intakes are a good upgrade.. not as good as the dual plenum intakes but a heck of a lot better than stock TDI and earlier intakes. porting & polishing would be a good idea too.
the egr on the PD150 is bolted on the intake end of the manifold and is where the intercooler piping attaches, therefore when you delete it you have to either fabricate or order some sort of adaptor. It is my understanding that this is the same as the newer TDI intakes and that the EGR delete adaptors for those will work. It is not like the stock AAZ where there is a separate hole to block off
I have a PD150 intake and I am in the process of doing a P&P job on it. I will post up pics when done. I don't know if it is the best intake, but the runners are longer than the stock, and the volume narrows promoting the venturi effect. seems like it would flow much better than stock. It was a few $ though, but easy enough to make it fit, just had to cut off one of the longer heat shield mounting posts where it would contact the compressor housing on my K14. I have the drivers side intake one, but I imagine you would still have this issue on the right side one as well.
I wish I had access to a dyno, cause I would run them both and we could have an apples to apples comparison with real numbers. The best I could do in lieu is to do a little spirited driving with both and watch the boost gauge. The install is probably still at least a month out in reality though, I imagine you want a quicker answer than that.
