Which one came on the AAZ, it has the squareish output flange where the waste gate outlet also is.
And for the sake of completeness (in case search leads someone here some day

) the K03-configured AAZ has a triangle-shaped manifold.
And it's a diesel K03 -- not to be confused with the K03, K03s, or K04 that came on gassers that have a similar, but slightly different [and incompatible] triangular flange.
From what I can tell early AAZ was K14 93-94
Later versions K03 95-97
Mine is K14 AAZ retrofited in a MKII '91 Jetta.
All squaue and 4 bolts.
Would also like to know what model Garrett turbos came on the AAZ if any.
Maybe some of the AAZ Passats ?
Were the Jetta MK3 1.9TD AAZ only KKK as in K014 and K03 ?
Next upcoming AAZ project :

I don't think that it's accurate to say that this turbo came on this year car. From the AAZs that I have worked on it seems to be totally random in true VW fashion. VW also used the Garrett T2 turbo which has the same mounting dimensions as the K14
And while we are on the subject, the AAZ K14 is slightly larger the then American eco-diesel K14
Thanks.
Trapezoid and not square on the manifold to be more precise.
Am new at this so bear with me please.
Was looking over a K24 mani. last night and it seems the same as
my K14 mani., would that be correct?
Also what are the qualities of the Garrett models such as T2?
My K14 may be eating oil and I have acess to a T2, would there
be any mods required to retrofit ?
I am more familiar with K14 as being a good AAZ street turbo,
as I get boost at 1800 to 3000 rpm approx.
A K24 for the high reving 1.6TD and the K03 as being a
small quick spooling turbo.
Please educate and correct me , I have searched a lot to little avail.
Thanks Tyler !

Just found this from Tyler, earlier post :
http://www.vwdiesel.net/forum/index.php?topic=17797.0In order to get the exhaust to work, use a K14, T2, T3 or K24. Don't use the K03. Then you just bolt the 1.6 downpipe onto the turbo and that's done.
If you aren't planning on pushing more then 20 psi, stick with a smaller turbo. The K14 is nice. It's bigger then the K03 and T2 but not as big as the K24 and T3.
If you have power steering, just swap the lines to the 1.9 pump. You'll need to modify the pressure side slightly, but it's pretty easy.
Upgrade the crankshaft while you are at it to the TDI style.
On other thing, the AAZ downpipe does not bolt onto the T3 (unsure about K24s). You need to cut about 4mm off the bottom of the flange or it will hit the little plate covering the wastegate door. And, on the AAZ you need to cut the little tab thing off the back of the intake manifold. The larger turbo will interfere with it
