70 plus MPG... why why why cant we buy these types of vehicles in the US?
Unbeleivable.
I'm thinking I want one for my other passion... Sleding.
Do up a 1.2 the same as they have on the superbike, or mabey even more. If I could get it to 120-150hp it would be an absolute monster drop it into my Summit HMX 162" and drop the gearing way down, with that kinda torque I could have like instant track speed at any throttle point, with out a fancy roller clutch, that and on the big climb's instead of reaching for the GO juice I would just let it torque its way up... HMMM.
Anyone know what a complete 1.2 with ECU ect.. would go for???
Edit: and approx weight?
I have a source - want me to ask, really? I know about diddly on the 1.2 but it sounds like a cool motor for other purposes ( like superlight 4x4's).
Actually the bore and stroke of the 1.2 TDI is 76.5 X 86.4, the same as the 1.6 IDI of yore.
http://www.audiworld.com/news/01/A2TDI/chart.htmSurprised me too. I thought the bore was 78.3mm with the 86.4mm stroke, both of which exist in the 1.7 SDI. This would make the displacement 1248cc, which would still qualify as a 1.2-litre displacement engine.
a bit off topic but I have mechanical drawings of both the 1.9L 4 cyl and 2.5L 5 cyl TDI engines. I'd love to get my hands on a drawing of the 1.2L and 1.4L 3 cylinders.
Do you have drawings of the 1.6L ? I could use that for my diesel subaru project. Althought, a 1.2TDI or 1.4TDI would be even better -- 3 cylinders is shorter and would fit in the engine compartment better. I was looking at kubota 3cyl diesel engines as a possibility too.....
I have 1.7 - 4 cylinder Lupo SDI engine code AKU year 99. Could you guys perhaps discuss this engine a bit more. In particular how this engine could cope with a turbo. What changes need to be made to account for oil cooler and piston cooling system, Ecu management and oil supply to turbo.
Been researching this for over a year now and managed to pick up a few bargains along the way. All new, Vnt15 , passat intake manifold and suitable fmic all for under £300 quid.
Any help with this project would be most helpful. Cheers
Sorry to hijack. But i thought whilst your on the topic.
I'd love to get a hold of one of these engines. Wonder if it would bolt up to a lightweight 020? (I know the 020 is bigger than an 02A, 02J or 02S, but it's much lighter).
