Hi, i am experiencing a weird problem as i am changing my front brakes pads on my mkIII 1,9 td 95: I tried to fit the regular pads but it didn't work because of the thickness (1/8 inch too thick). I went to the parts store with my ventilated disk and find out it is suppose to be a plain disk!
Anyway, i think someone put a golf 92 disk + caliper on my 95 td.
Is there a way to fit some thinner brake pads or should i just change my disks for non-vent one? (i guess a non-vent one is thinner!)
Thx
No, as long as they used stock parts,
you just need to find the right replacements...
I am totally familiar with Mk3 diesel underpinnings,
we are not so fortunate here..
However, most pads from 85-98
on the Golf/Jetta platform are interchangeable on US models.
(the main difference is the thickness re: vented and non)
If the parts store has it,
I would see if they have a set of pads
for a GTI 2.0 of the same year..
Then compare them at the counter, and see if they are sufficiently thinner.
Sorry, almost forgot to ask,
I am assuming the piston is totally buried in the cylinder,
and the sliders are moving well, right?

Thx jettagli 16v, i was a lil frustrated about my brake thing. Thx for tip.
Yes my piston is fully in and the sliders are moving well. I will try some gti pads. I don't want to change my disc because its a vented one and not so old. I just need to have 2 mm thinner on each pads.
Thx for the very fast reply. I'll chk this out tomorrow. If you have any other idea, they're welcome!
Yup, vented rotors are thicker than the standard rotor, so you'll need to round up the corresponding thinner GTI pads.
