I just got off the phone with a ARP stud supplier who wants $174.00CN for the set! Eeeeik! I guess I will order on-line. I would pay more to have them in hand sooner but $50-60+ is crazy!?
Does anybody know if stud might be a problem in terms of installing and pulling the head when it is on it's angled position in the Vanagon? I don't think it will work... (gut feeling) Right now it is easy to pull the head with all the bolts removed.
I am building a new engine with over-sized new pistons and was thinking head studs would be good but not if it is will mean removing the engine for a headgasket job.
Also I looked for a supplier on this forum but could not find one. If anyone knows where to get them ..... close to Montreal is better.
Steve
Even if the head won't lift over the studs if it needs to be removed it's no big deal to just screw the studs back out again because they have an allen head in the top and they don't even need to be torqued installing them. They are just screwed in the block snug by hand.
I was thinking once they are in they are there forever... I guess they will not seize or get tightened by the torquing process. Ok hand tight it is.
SO I have:
ARP HEADSTUDS with 12mm threads Part no: ARP 251-4701
This ARP part number is listed as ford cosworth head stud kit
These are the specs for the 1.6td... As long as that works... thank you all.
Does anybody know where to get these in Montreal?
